The York University Psychology Clinic will offer a new, six-session support group to help students better understand attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and discuss coping strategies.
The program, called “Motivated or Unmotivated?,” is designed to support those who are:
- struggling with ADHD;
- confused about how it’s possible to focus for hours on something, yet not be able to listen for a few minutes;
- finding it hard to stay motivated and stay on task;
- interested in learning strategies to help focus better in school and life; and
- interested in learning about positive aspects of ADHD.
Topics for discussion will include: positive aspects of ADHD; ADHD stigma and negative self-talk; medication and whether it helps; and strategies to help improve motivation, goal setting and follow through.
The program runs from noon to 1:30pm on Tuesdays, beginning Oct. 18 and ending Nov. 22. It takes place in Room 102A, Behavioural Science Building. The cost to participate is $50.
