The Tait McKenzie Gym rang with the sound music, laughter and a few tears on Friday, Oct. 7 during the celebration of Vice-Provost Janet Morrison’s 17 years at York University. Morrison’s family, friends and colleagues, plus students from across the campus, gathered to acknowledge her many and varied contributions to student success at York University. Students and staff alike spoke from the heart about how she has counselled and mentored them, becoming a role model for leading with compassion and courage.
For those who weren’t able to attend the event, and would like to send a message, there will be a guestbook at York’s RED Zone in Vari Hall and one in the VP Students suite in N303 Bennett Centre for Student Services until 4pm on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
The Division of Students has set up the Janet K. Morrison Student Success Award to provide ongoing financial support each year to a deserving student.
At the end of November 2016, Morrison will assume the position of Provost and Vice-President Academic at Sheridan College. While the community is sad to see Morrison leave York, she will always be a York Lion!
