Applications needed for the Undergraduate Research Fair

Organizers of York’s fifth annual Undergraduate Research Fair, which takes place on Wed, March 1, need your help.

The call for applications to participate closes Jan. 25, and more student applications are needed. Individual encouragement from faculty is the prime motivator for students to apply; please urge the student-authors of noteworthy projects/papers/creative works, completed in 2016, to apply.

York President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri will deliver the keynote speech at this year’s event.

There are two ways for students to participate in the Undergraduate Research Fair: by presenting a poster about an already completed project done for a York course in 2016; or by exhibiting art/design work in the Scott Library Art Walk. In either case, it’s easy to apply. The application form is on the library website and at researchfair.info.yorku.ca

The juried Undergraduate Research Fair provides an excellent experiential education opportunity as students share their work in a friendly, cross-curricular environment. Benefits include earning a chance to win a monetary prize, gaining importance experience for future jobs, an enhanced application to graduate school, presentation experience and the potential for publication of their work in a research journal.
