In collaboration with several offices, Faculties and departments across campus, Peer Leader Community of Practice (PLCoP) is excited to host the eighth annual Peer Leader Training Day on Friday, April 28.
The aim of Peer Leader Training is to provide core training for any student holding a paid or volunteer position at York, including work-study or York Engaged Students (YES) positions.
This year’s event will offer sessions in a conference-style format for the first time, allowing participants the opportunity to select the sessions that best align with their interests and learning objectives.
In addition, the sessions will be organized in three different streams: core sessions, recommended for the first-time student leaders; advanced sessions, recommended for the returning student leaders; and specialized sessions, recommended for student government directors.
The keynote session will be delivered by Maseh Hadaf, a third-year global health student, residence don and an aspiring agent of change. This session, titled “Self Care isn’t an Escape, it is a Life Style,” was presented at the Ontario Association of College & University Housing Officers (OACUHO) Residence Life Conference for student staff at Trent University in the fall of 2016, and received the Julianne Pettigrew Award for the best conference presentation.
