York University’s Gus Kandilas, a professor in the Faculty of Health and coordinator of the athletic therapy certificate program in the School of Kinesiology & Health Science, was recently selected to receive the Distinguished Athletic Therapy Educator Award from the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA).
The award was presented to Kandilas at the CATA National Conference held in June in Niagara Falls.
In addition to his faculty role at York University, Kandilas is a certified athletic therapist and an osteopathic manual practitioner.
According to CATA, the award is presented to an association member in recognition of truly distinguished contributions to athletic therapy. Nominees for this category are exemplary educators in the athletic therapy realm. Involved not only in traditional forums and teaching settings, the recipient has also demonstrated the following: leadership in community, national or international education; involvement in original research publication; and/or innovative teaching delivery or curriculum development.
