Markham Expo celebrations feature York U's president and students

The City of Markham will be celebrating Canada’s and Ontario’s 150th anniversaries from Sept. 8 to10.

On Sunday, Sept. 10 from 10:30am to 10pm, the Markham Civic Centre grounds will be converted into an Expo with events and celebrations. Events will include live entertainment and performances, children’s activities, a parade, exhibits, food trucks, fireworks and an ONTour Concert Series featuring Barenaked Ladies, Tyler Shaw and Jessica Mitchell.

The parade will begin at noon on Clegg Road and end at the Markham Civic Centre grounds. York University will be represented in the parade by President and Vice Chancellor Rhonda Lenton. The York Lions mascot and Varsity athletes will join the president in the parade. Students from the Faculty of Science will be presenting science demonstrations.

The Expo, which is free to the public, promises a whole lot of fun for the entire family. You too can show your support to the City of Markham, the future home for York University’s third campus, while enjoying the best of what Markham has to offer.
