To date, the York Cares United Way Campaign has raised close to $105,000

At just over the halfway mark, the York Cares United Way Campaign has raised $104,167.16 towards the final campaign goal of $185,000. The 2017 York Cares United Way Campaign runs until Nov. 30 and there’s still time to make an individual donation.

Each year, members of the York U community come together to support the United Way. Funds raised through the campaign benefit important local agencies and programs – some of which impact York’s programs and students directly.

Did you know that that $100 provides crisis and supportive counselling to a woman and her children who are survivors of domestic violence? A contribution of $500 provides funding and support for a week-long hot breakfast program for more than 50 deserving children. Opportunities to donate continue throughout the month.

On Nov. 23, the Office of the Vice-President Academic & Provost will be hosting its sophomore annual Auction & Wine Pull in support of United Way, from 12 to 3pm in the Kaneff Tower, ninth floor kitchen and lounge area. For the auction, bidding starts as low as $5 for unique, interesting and top-quality items. For the Wine Pull come prepared to donate $20 per pull for the opportunity to grab wines ranging from $10 to $100.
