A night under the meteors with York U’s Allan I. Carswell Observatory

Up to 15 meteors an hour will likely zip through the night sky this week when the Orionid meteor shower commences, peaking the evening of Sunday, Oct. 21. The public can view the shower on the first clear weekday evening until Oct. 19 at York University, free of charge.

Check the weather reports for updates, which will be posted by 4 p.m. on the Allan I. Carswell Observatory twitter page @yorkobservatory or Facebook page to see if the telescopes will be set up for viewing that evening.

In addition, to the meteors, there will be an array of astronomical objects to view.  A constellation sky tour will occur several times during the evening.
