Senate-sponsored Forum of Ideas planned for Feb. 7

All members of the York University community are invited to attend the Senate-sponsored Forum of Ideas 2018-19, a follow-up event to the inaugural Forum of Ideas held last winter. The Forum of Ideas 2018-19 will take place on Thursday, Feb. 7 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in Winters Dining Hall, 001 Winters College, Keele Campus.

The inaugural forum focused on program revisioning and curriculum reform.

This year’s planning forum will pick up the main themes generated at the first event. Participants will discuss the following: What are the promising new ideas on the horizon for post-secondary curriculum and teaching? How can those ideas be moved from theory to practice at York University?

Panel discussions will provide guidance about institutional support and resources for program development. A keynote address will be delivered by Alex Usher, president of Higher Education Strategy Associates. Usher is an internationally recognized expert in student financial aid and quality measurement in post-secondary education. He will share his insight on pinpointing academic program direction and identifying the need and demand in the current Ontario post-secondary landscape.

Following the forum and keynote, there will be a wine and cheese reception at 4:30 p.m.
