Canada Post outlet in York Lanes will close Jan. 25

The Inkblotz store in York Lanes will be closing on Jan. 31. The store closure will also include the Canada Post outlet. In December, as soon as the University learned about the store closure, staff began working with Canada Post to establish a new post office on the Keele Campus.

There are several details that must be resolved with Canada Post to establish a new post office and it will likely take a few months before a new post office is open. Despite the University’s best efforts to arrive at a temporary solution with the existing location while a new outlet is established, York was informed by Canada Post that this would not be possible.

The University recognizes and fully understands the inconvenience and impact this closure will cause to the York community, but unfortunately, as it currently stands, the last day of operation for the Inkblotz Canada Post outlet will be Friday, Jan. 25.

After Jan. 25, Canada Post will be redirecting its customers to the Downsview Post Office at 1027 Finch Ave. W. (west of Dufferin). This includes outbound services as well as any packages requiring signature for pickup that previously would have been held at the Inkblotz location. Packages addressed to students living in residence that do not require signature will continue to be delivered to the Housing Services offices.

In the interim, the University continues to work closely with Canada Post to establish a new on-campus post office as quickly as possible. While that work is underway, Ancillary Services and Facilities Services will be offering students a complimentary shuttle from the Atkinson parking lot (located south of the Second Student Centre) to the Downsview Post Office on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 p.m. The shuttle service will commence on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and will operate until further notice.

Part-time OSAP students are required to take their part-time funding certificate to any Canada Post Office to mail it to the National Student Loans Service Centre for processing. Students can access any Canada Post Office near their home or work to mail their part-time funding certificate or, when on campus, to take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service to the Downsview Post Office.
