2019 Teaching in Focus Conference returns May 15 and 16

The 2019 Teaching in Focus (TiF) Conference – an exciting two-day professional development conference that is offered free of charge to all York University community members with a passion for teaching – returns for another great year.

TiF is an opportunity to share and learn from others at York University about innovative approaches and strategies that are being used in classrooms across the University.

The TiF Conference, which takes place Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 in the Accolade East Building on the Keele Campus, features a keynote address by York alumnus and Ryerson University Professor Eric Kam (BA '91, MA '92, PhD '00).

Eric Kam

In his research, Kam has investigated the effects of monetary changes in the economy. At Ryerson University, he has served as the faculty teaching Chair and director of teaching and learning. In 2013 he was the recipient of the Ryerson University President’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

In his engaging presentation, titled "Searching for Tools for Mass Instruction," Kam will share helpful tips to new and seasoned instructors alike about strategies for teaching classes of all sizes. He will offer personal reflections on what has worked (and not worked) over 25 years of teaching at the post-secondary level.

The registration deadline for TiF 2019 is Monday, May 6. This conference is highly popular, so don't delay, register today at bit.ly/2Pnr0ZG.
