Teaching Assistants (TAs) at York University are invited to attend the TA Orientation session, a full-day event taking place on Friday, Aug. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Room 0016, Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Building, Keele Campus.
Participants will learn more about the roles and responsibilities of being a TA at York, as well about the many resources that are available. The day features concurrent sessions covering topics such as designing a tutorial, planning and teaching in the lab, marking and grading, inclusive teaching, being an international TA, and connecting with the course director.
Participants can choose to participant in interactive discussions with each other to share their concerns or uncertainties about their new roles and discuss strategies to overcome them, with guidance from an experienced TA. Participants will also be given different scenarios of what could happen during their TAship and they will work with their peers to determine what they would do.
