Students’ academic success is the top priority at the York University Bookstore. To support that goal, staff are relentlessly working to ensure that the required course materials are in stock before the first day of classes.
Every textbook and course pack submission received by Oct. 18 will help Bookstore staff meet that goal for the Winter 2020 term. For custom course materials and titles coming from overseas, the lead time could be between eight and 16 weeks. Also note that books from previous semesters are not usually retained by the Bookstore. Staff and faculty need to notify the Bookstore of all Winter 2020 term requirements and Bookstore staff will either retain leftover books or reorder them.
As a result of the early course materials submissions for the fall term, the York University Bookstore was able to continue to improve its textbook rental program. The number of used textbook titles and quantities available almost doubled this September compared to last fall, which resulted in more students being able to afford their course materials. With continued support from faculty and staff, the York University Bookstore will continue to grow its Course Materials Affordability program.
Course materials orders can be submitted to the Bookstore buyers in person, via phone or email, or through the online ordering system accessed through the Faculty & Staff link on the York University Bookstore website.
For an online ordering password, faculty and staff can email orders@yorku.ca. The Bookstore web pages are updated to assist faculty and staff, including a list of subjects bought by buyer. As the world of course materials is changing fast, the Bookstore will keep faculty and staff informed. The Bookstore’s experienced staff are available to personally meet with faculty and staff to help with the course materials submission process and provide the tools needed. To arrange a meeting, contact Laura Deszpa at ldeszpa@yorku.ca.
