Schulich Professor Sherena Hussain nominated for Emerging Leader Award

Sherena Hussain, assistant professor at Schulich’s Brookfield Centre in Real Estate and Infrastructure and academic director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Fellowship Program, has been nominated for the 2020 Women Infrastructure Network (WIN) Emerging Leader Award.

The annual WIN Awards Program recognizes and celebrates the contributions of exceptional women in the Canadian infrastructure industry. Hussain was the only academic selected among the 36 nominees in the Emerging Leader category.

In announcing Hussain’s nomination, WIN noted that she was “a contributor to the World Economic Forum’s work groups on sustainable infrastructure and the Institute of Sustainable Finance” as well as “a firm proponent of empowering women to grow and prosper in their careers in infrastructure."

This year’s WIN awards will be announced at a gala event on April 23.

Hussain is also an accomplished legal professional having practiced tax and infrastructure law at a first-tier North American business law firm. She holds a combined Juris doctor-master of business administration degree, graduate master diploma in real estate and infrastructure, and a bachelor of business dministration. She is the recipient of numerous accolades including the Hennick Medal for academic excellence and multiple prizes in the areas of tax, contract, commercial/corporate, real estate, trust and estate law.
