For the third year in a row, Team Schulich of York University's Schulich School of Business has advanced to the final round of the prestigious Harvard Global Case Competition. This year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers will move forward using a virtual platform. The competition is scheduled to take place April 25.
Nearly 200 teams from leading business schools all over the world enter this competition every year; only 10 are invited to present their proposals in the final round at Harvard.
“This was truly an amazing team. Right from the beginning, they embraced the challenge with a determination to finish in first place,” said coach and Schulich Professor Joe Fayt. “In spite of a huge workload with their courses, they worked incredibly hard on their research and proposal.”
The competition is a unique opportunity connecting students from the world’s leading business schools from North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. Each year, the case is related to the investment banking and private equity world. It requires students to solve a major business challenge that integrates strategy and finance. Last year, for example, teams were asked to respond to the challenge of making General Motors a leader in the electric car industry.
“This team has a truly unbeatable spirit,” shared Fayt. “They started off strong and maintained a high level of performance throughout the competition.”
The Schulich MBA team is comprised of Cameron Teschuk (MBA/JD ‘21), Krithika Kashyap (MBA ‘20), Catherine Melo (IMBA ‘20), Kristen Ferkranus (MBA ’20) and Abdelrahman Sahban Ali (MBA ‘21). The team will focus on creating a 12-minute presentation based on their 100-page research slide deck.
