The talks are meant to inspire, motivate and educate audiences on the realities of launching a startup in today’s world. Speakers will delve into their experiences as an entrepreneur, exploring their success, failure and lessons.
The next event in the series, “Employee to Entrepreneur: Earn Your Freedom & Follow Your Passion” takes place at 12 p.m. and features Hefter, co-founder of the global sports nutrition company Nutrabolics and York University commerce alumnus.
Some of our best and grandest ideas can come from doing things we enjoy. For Hefter, his ardent days of working as an employee at a major nutrition retailer while studying at York University led to his passion for sports nutrition supplements. Hefter soon realized that there was a gap in the Canadian market for premium sports supplements and at the age of 22, he left school and put $10,000 on his credit card to start a company, Nutrabolics, with his long-time high school friend and business partner. Fast-forward nearly two decades and Nutrabolics is successfully distributed in over 40 different countries and has sponsored some of the top athletes in the world, most recently UFC Champion Khabib Nurmagamedov.
Hefter made Business in Vancouver’s 24th annual Top 40 under 40 list in 2014, and was a finalist for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2015. In addition to being co-founder and chief formulator at Nutrabolics, in 2020 he founded The Beauty Candy, the first-ever PETA-certified vegan and cruelty-free ingestible skincare brand. The Beauty Candy goes to market in April 2021.
Join YSpace for this candid interview with Hefter that will dive deep into how he made the decision to take the leap and start his business, overcoming many hurdles along the way. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn key lessons from Hefter’s journey and get an insightful look into the world of entrepreneurship from a founder who has been through it all.
