The following message was shared by Schulich School of Business Dean Detlev Zwick:
I am sad to inform you that our dear colleague and friend, Filomena Ticzon, passed away peacefully April 12.
Filomena was one of our school’s most dedicated and longest-serving employees. A loyal staff member for nearly 45 years, Filomena served as an administrative assistant in the Economics Area, where she supported our faculty and students with pride and professionalism. The words, “Welcome, how can I help you?” will be dearly missed by all who visited the N205 corridor.
Filomena was known for her radiant, outgoing personality. She was always one of the first to help out or volunteer, and she especially enjoyed her role as the social director of the Faculty Staff Social Committee during the 1990s, when she organized and hosted a number of activities that are fondly remembered by many staff and faculty. She enjoyed bringing people together and went out of her way to make sure they were having fun. Filomena was also active in her community for many years, where she served as president of the International San Pablo Association and as treasurer of the Philippine Independence Day Council.
To pay tribute to Filomena, we are in communication with her family to honour her memory in the most thoughtful and appropriate way possible. We also plan to hold a memorial service at our school where we can celebrate her life together with her family, friends and colleagues. We will provide more details once a date and time have been confirmed. In the meantime, anyone wishing to make a donation to a memorial fund in Filomena’s name or anyone who would like to share their condolences can do so here.
On behalf of the entire Schulich community, I extend our deepest sympathies to Filomena’s husband, Fernando, her daughter, Lisa, and son-in-law, Jan, as well as their grandchildren Liv and Aiden. Filomena will be greatly missed.
