Slips, trips and falls are one of the most common types of workplace injuries. As temperatures drop and the winter season approaches, the number of incidents due to slips, trips and falls tends to increase.

York University’s Facilities Services Grounds Team maintains enhanced presence on site during the winter months to monitor weather conditions and clear snow on campus roads, pathways and parking lots. To learn more about how Facilities Services responds to winter weather, visit its website.

Pay close attention to slip, trip and fall hazards and continually be aware of your surroundings. Take precautions to safely navigate the winter weather, such as wearing winter-appropriate footwear.

York’s Tips to Avoid Winter Slips, Trips and Falls posters (scroll to the bottom of the safety tips) are available on the Community Safety site and provide helpful hints and is available for download.
