Town hall meetings will address safety audit

York University is committed to ensuring a productive and safe learning environment for everyone.  In light of recent events on campus, York University will be conducting a safety audit. York President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri has created a University Safety Audit Committee which will provide oversight to the audit, to help facilitate issues as they arise and to serve as a sounding board for observations and recommendations.

The safety audit will be tendered through an open public bidding process.  The objective of the audit is to identify and improve York’s environment, both physical and cultural, which strives for a climate of collaboration and support of personal safety needs for our community members.

The University will be holding a series of Town Hall meetings to provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about the safety audit. The meeting times are as follows:

Event Location Date Time
Town Hall Meeting Keele Campus, Accolade East 013 Monday, March 24 1-3pm
Town Hall Meeting Keele Campus, Technology Enhanced Learning Building 1005 Monday, March 24 5-7pm
Town Hall Meeting Glendon Campus, York Hall 172 Thursday, March 27 10-12pm

Come out and learn more about the safety audit process at York. Share your ideas, identify areas of concern. If you can’t make it to the Town Hall, send your suggestions, in confidence, to safety@yorku.ca.
