In the wake of university and college English departments nationwide undergoing titular transmutations to become Departments of Literary Studies or English & Cultural Studies or Language & Literature, York’s English Undergraduate Students’ Association (EUSA) is organizing a conference on Saturday, April 26 to address issues and topics associated with this national trend. (There will be a late afternoon reception on April 25 for conference participants.)
Titled “Why English 2008”, the conference, a faculty-student event, will promote discussion on the changing face of the discipline and query pedagogy. There will be semniars on a variety of topics, including:
- Language & Literacies
- Digital Evolutions
- Foundational Myths
- Interdisciplinarity
- Creativity in The English Department
