Tait McKenzie closed today to aid fire evacuees but exams continue

York University, in cooperation with the City of Toronto, has closed the Tait McKenzie Centre in order to shelter evacuees following a devastating explosion and fire on Murray Road in the Keele/Wilson area of Toronto on Sunday morning.

More than 150 residents of the affected neighbourhood were evacuated to the Tait McKenzie building at York’s Keele campus early Sunday, and were being offered shelter overnight. For further information about the Murray Road fire, see the City of Toronto Web site at www.toronto.ca and Toronto news sites.

Examinations will take place at York as scheduled on Monday. Activities that were to take place at Tait McKenzie today have been moved to other locations, and all participants have been notified.
