Companion of Earth
In his Sept. 17 The Globe and Mail column Eye on the Skies, Nigel Brachi mentions the near-Earth asteroid Cruithne, which has a highly unusual, horseshoe-shaped orbit. Known as Asteroid 3753, it was identified as a “companion” of Earth by Paul Wiegert of York University (and others) in 1997.
