York University has issued a new Negotiations Update, renewing its offer to go to binding arbitration to settle the labour dispute with CUPE Local 3903. It says this would be the quickest way to get students back to classes.
The University stresses that binding arbitration will not reduce the “value” of the CUPE Local 3903 collective agreements. "All of the previously agreed-upon proposals and existing collective agreement provisions not in dispute will remain as is," it says. "There are no employer proposals on the table which would result in a reduction of wages or benefits."
CUPE Local 3903, which represents teaching assistants, contract faculty and graduate assistants, has been on strike since Nov. 6.
