Complex 2 Cafeteria receives the Eat Smart! Award

Smart eating choices at York University have been recognized by Eat Smart!, Ontario’s Healthy Restaurant Program. The Complex 2 Cafeteria, which received an Eat Smart! Award this year, is located in the basement of Stong College on York’s Keele campus.

The cafeteria was recognized by Eat Smart! for offering a variety of healthier food choices, both on the menu and by request. It was also recognized for its exceptional standards in food safety, including kitchen staff who are certified in safe food handling.

In addition to Complex 2 Cafeteria, past Eat Smart! Awards have been given to the Complex 1 Cafeteria and TEL Café on the Keele campus, and to the Glendon Cafeteria on the Glendon campus. 

What is Eat Smart?

Eat Smart!, Ontario’s Healthy Restaurant Program, is an exclusive program that awards Ontario restaurants that meet high standards in food safety, nutrition and non-smoking seating. Toronto Public Health participates in this provincial program in association with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario and the Canadian Cancer Society. In Toronto, restaurants that display the Eat Smart! sign receive the Eat Smart! Award of Excellence on an annual basis.  

Health Education & Promotion, located within the Centre for Student Community & Leadership Development, and Food Services, part of Campus Services & Business Operations are working with Toronto Public Health to bring more Eat Smart! establishments to the University. Watch for updates on the Health Education & Promotion Web site.
