Sharon Hooper has recently been appointed the new assistant vice-president human resources & employee relations. Hooper assumed her role at the University yesterday.
For the past 11 years, Hooper has held senior-level leadership positions in human resources in large organizations in both the public and private sectors. She has a strong background in labour relations, including labour negotiations and grievance management, and more than 20 years of human resources experience within decentralized work environments.
Hooper’s background also includes providing strategic leadership in a broad range of program development, and service delivery in all human resources areas, including job evaluation, wage and salary administration, performance management, benefits and pension administration, learning and development, workforce planning, succession planning, equity and diversity.
As assistant vice-president of human resources & employee relations, Hooper will report directly to Gary Brewer, vice-president finance & administration. She will have responsibility for strategic leadership of non-academic employee relations; job evaluation and compensation; pension and benefits; payroll and human resource information systems; workforce planning, recruitment and equity; learning and development and the Employee Well-Being Office.
