York’s United Way Campaign is looking for volunteers

Organizers of York University’s 2009 United Way Campaign are gearing up for this year’s effort, and perhaps more than ever, the programs and services provided by United Way agencies are needed to help build stronger communities.

November is United Way month and organizers are seeking volunteers to help canvass for donations or assist with special events. By volunteering as a workplace canvasser or helping out with other United Way fundraising special events and activities, you can play an integral role in making the University’s United Way fundraising campaign a success.

"We welcome returning canvassers/volunteers but also hope to expand our team of volunteer canvassers," said Yvette Munro, chair of York University’s United Way Employee Campaign. "If you have a bit of time to spare and are interested in learning about the United Way, we invite you to join our canvasser team. All canvassers will be invited to a lunch-hour mini training session."

To volunteer, contact Munro at ext. 77529 or ymunro@yorku.ca no later than Wednesday, Oct. 28.
