The Centre for Student Community & Leadership Development at York, in conjunction with the University’s Interfaith Council, invites members of the York community to take part in interfaith events taking place today and tomorrow.
Today, York community members are invited to attend the Interfaith Panel on the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Presented by the Campus Association for Baha’i Studies in collaboration with Hillel at York and Campus for Christ, the panel will focus on the role religion plays in dealing with violence against women and the application of the equality of women and men within their communities. Panellists include Elizabeth Wright, director of the Bahá’í Community of Canada ‘s Office for the Advancement of Women; Lisa Cheong, Toronto representative for the Ratanak Foundation; and Rabbi Ilyse Glickman, spiritual leader of Am Shalom Congregation in Barrie, Ont. The panel will begin at 5:30pm in the Scott Religious Centre chapel on York’s Keele campus.
On Nov. 26, come out and meet the "Faces of Faith" during Interfaith Council Day. York University stands out internationally because of its religious and cultural diversity, and the aim of Interfaith Council Day is to showcase the 32 recognized religious clubs at York University. Each club will participate in an information fair with representatives present to answer any questions about their particular club. The event runs from 10am to 2pm in the Vari Hall Rotunda on York’s Keele campus.
