Vanier College Productions is looking for submissions for the Radio 10 Live 2010 Festival, which celebrates words, voice and sound. During this four-day event, five playwrights and five directors team will up to bring theatrical productions to life without the aid of complex sets, props, pre-recorded sound or special lighting. Given a three-week period to get ready before the festival starts, directors and casts must work to bring each writer’s play to life using as many creative methods as they can within the limitations of the festival. The Radio 10 Live Festival will take place Feb. 3 to 6, 2010, in the Fred Thury Studio Theatre, 258 Vanier College. Here’s what you need to know:
-
All plays submitted must be between 15 and 45 minutes in length.
-
Directors may not use pre-recorded sound, props or complex sets. (Any set requests must be brought to the festival coordinator’s attention for approval. Chairs, music stands and simple blocks will be at your disposal.)
-
All plays, resumés and artistic statements will be read by a juried panel. The plays and directors will be selected by panel and whether your work is chosen or not, you will be contacted, provided with feedback and told of the jury’s results. We do recognize that all work is important, however, we can’t take every play and director due to the size and time frame of the festival.
Submissions should be sent to Guy Doucette, Radio 10 Live Festival coordinator, at guydoucette@back-burner-productions.com. For futher information, contact Doucette at 647-889-4893. All submissions for the 2010 Radio 10 Live Festival are due by Saturday, Dec. 12, at midnight.
