Have you ever wondered how you could more effectively plan for your retirement?
If so, then why not consider attending an information session offered by York’s Retirement Planning Centre on Tuesday, May 4. The session, which runs from 12 to 1pm, offers important information on how to use the York University Retirement Planner (YURP), an online tool created to help you figure out what you will need for a happy, comfortable retirement.
An innovative tool, YURP was designed to help you project your entitlement from the York University Pension Plan. The online tool provides estimates of the monthly benefits that are possible any time from age 55 up to December 1 in the year you turn 71. Through YURP, you can make changes to a variety of assumptions, such as changes to your salary or workload.
The information session offers a walk through of the YURP system and all of its features. Some of the features covered are:
- How to access current and previous annual pension statements.
- How to change the workload or salary increase assumptions.
- The additional voluntary contribution assumptions.
- How to understand the results.
The session will be led by Michelle Hannen, manager of the Pension Administration System. Hannen has more than five years of experience working on the York University Pension Plan and is responsible for the implementation of the current pension administration system known as Seclon. Prior to coming to the University, Hannen worked in the pension industry and has 15 years of experience in the field.
This session is part of a series of seminars offered by the Retirement Planning Centre. To register, contact the Retirement Planning Centre at 416-736-2100, ext. 66228, or e-mail retire@yorku.ca.
