Suspect arrested in recent York University incidents

Last week, four female members of the York community reported unwanted physical contact on the afternoon of Thursday, July 5, 2012. In each case, a male suspect approached the woman, attempted to speak to her and made inappropriate physical contact as she walked away.

Toronto Police Service (TPS) arrested a man Monday night in connection with this investigation.

For more details, refer to the TPS news release.

Understanding how important a sense of safety is to all members of the York community, York University continues to work collaboratively with all its constituent groups to ensure a culture of safety at both of its campuses.

As always, York community members are reminded to exercise personal safety by:

  • Being aware of your surroundings and the people around you.
  • Reporting any suspicious persons or behaviour to York Security Services.
