Marie Milani was a long-serving member of the York community

The York flag will fly at half-mast today in memory of Marie Milani, administrative secretary in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics in York’s Faculty of Science & Engineering.

Mrs. Milani died on Thursday, June 16, following a lengthy illness. She was a long-serving member of the York community and started working at the University in 1986. On Jan. 2, 1989, she moved to Marie Milanithe Department of Mathematics & Statistics.

“She was a lovely person,” said Kate Singh, the department’s operations manager. “Marie was well liked and a respected member of the department.”

Mrs. Milani leaves her husband John, children Rita, Gianni and Roseanna. She had two grandchildren, Julia and Matthew.

A memorial service will take place today at 9am at St. David’s Catholic Church, 2601 Major Mackenzie Drive, in Maple, Ontario. For more information, call 905-832-5595.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Milani’s memory to a charity of your choice.
