York’s Red & White spirit found in the lecture hall and beyond

York University spirit can be found in every corner of the campus including the classroom. On Nov. 14, York University Professors were invited to encourage their students to wear Red & White or York gear to class for a group photograph. Class photos were then submitted to Red & White day organizers for a chance to win coffee service for the entire class.

An honourable mention was given to Kinesiology Professor Merv Mosher’s class photo, Research Methods in Kinesiology – KIN 2049.

The winning photo was selected by a panel of judges that included: Rhonda Lenton, vice-provost Academic, Irene Fezza, executive assistant to the President and Jessica Thyriar, vice-president Campus Life, York Federation of Students.

York University students were invited to create Spirit Teams and compete in the Red & White Spirit Competition to be #1 in school spirit! The Spirit Competition challenged student groups to show their spirit through participation in three Red & White judged competitions.

The Student Community & Leadership Development (SCLD) Spirit Team came out on top and clinched the Best in Team Spirit Competition at the Spirit Rally on Nov. 14.

The winning team was selected after evaluating each of the challenge submissions, by a panel of judges that included: Catherine Davidson, associate university librarian, Collections, Lia Quickert, manager, Communications in the Office of the President and Jessica Thyriar, vice-president Campus Life, York Federation of Students.
