“We are unabashed in our pride for the University,” says Steve Glassman, director of the York University Bookstore. “The aim of this event is to encourage everyone in the community to wear the York logo on their sleeves, their backs and their backpacks.”
Glassman says there will be special bargain priced items available every day of the sale. “Each day, there will be a marketplace of stationery, gift items and clothing. The vendors will be at booths inside the front of the bookstore to demonstrate their latest gadgets. Meet these specialists, who will explain how they can produce customized items for clubs, departmental events and other occasions.”
There will be a special focus on sustainable and recycled products, which Glassman says continue to improve while becoming affordable and mainstream.
All are invited to the sale. Vendors will attend the booths each day from 10am to 3pm.
A portion of the price of every York-branded item goes to the York University Licensing Board. This program has provided funding for numerous student and campus improvement programs over the years, including bursaries, building the basketball court in Vanier Green, producing walking trail maps of the Keele campus and funding 50 benches for York’s 50th anniversary.
