Safety Awareness Days draw big crowds

York University hosted its second annual Safety Awareness Day information fairs at the Keele and Glendon campuses on Sept. 28 and 29.

Interest was high in the community and campus providers of personal safety services did a brisk business as they handed out safety information brochures and talked with students, faculty and staff about personal safety.

Among the many displays was an informative and interactive display on how to make a personal emergency preparedness and safety kit, a demonstration of the safe use of a fire extinguisher and a demonstration on how to use an automated external defibrillator, a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias in someone and is able to treat them through defibrillation.

Visit the Safety Awareness website to learn more about the comprehensive safety measures, programs and services available at York University. President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri also recently delivered an update to the community on campus safety measures.
