This spring, York University will launch a new Intranet for employees.
To celebrate, the Better Workplace project group is holding a contest to find a name for the new Intranet. One lucky faculty or staff employee could win a new iPad Mini valued at $329 just for coming up with the winning name before everyone else. The contest, which officially opens at 7am today (Tuesday, Jan. 15), closes on Friday, Jan. 25.
An exciting new resource for York faculty and staff, the new Intranet will be a place where University employees can access the tools they need to get their work done with ease and efficiency. Hosted behind Passport York, the Intranet will offer employees a secure place to connect with each other and learn more about their colleagues across the University. They will be able to see at a glance, key information such as their pension and benefits, training history, information on the courses they teach, facilities notices and more. Forums will offer faculty and staff an opportunity to ask and answer questions and comment on University news. For more information, click here.
Each employee can submit up to two entries for a chance to win. Be specific in your entry by including your suggested name and a brief explanation about why you think it is the winning name. Start thinking now about your suggestions and when you are ready, fill out the contest entry form below and submit it by no later than 5pm on Friday, Jan. 25. The entries will be short-listed by the Better Workplace Advisory Council, a pan-University group that has been working on better workplace practices and policies. The short-listed names will be announced in YFile and all employees may vote for their favourite. The short-listed name with the most votes wins.
The winner will be announced Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Here’s some fine print. The contest is open all York employees who are legal residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside at the time of entry. Full contest rules will be posted shortly on the Creating a Better Workplace website.
