The following passings notice was submitted to YFile by Alumni Relations in the Schulich School of Business.
For over 18 years, Naomi Powlett worked as an administrative assistant in Alumni Relations at the Schulich School of Business. Ms. Powlett was a truly special, warm and well-liked individual. In her role, she met thousands of Schulich alumni, many initially as students, and later as 
alumni, always with a warm smile and friendly greeting. She died Friday May 17 at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ont.

Ms. Powlett started working for York University in January of 1993 and joined the former Faculty of Administrative Studies in her current role on October of 1994. A single word often used to describe her is ‘feisty’. Always willing to speak her mind if something needed to be said and never one to shy away from the work that needed to be done, Ms. Powlett will be fondly remembered for her purposeful walk and her infectious laughter. She cared very deeply for the students, alumni and colleagues with whom she worked. She will be deeply missed.
Ms. Powlett was a loving mother of her children, Tasha and Darren; a cherished sister of her siblings, Horace, Diana, Cynthia, Harvey, June and Thora; and a dear friend to so many.
Family and friends will be received at on Monday, June 3, from 2 to 4pm, as well as from 6 to 9pm at the Scott Funeral Home, Brampton Chapel, 289 Main Street North, Brampton. For more information, contact the funeral home at (905) 451-1100.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4 at 12pm at the Kennedy Road Tabernacle, 141 Kennedy Road North, Brampton. An interment will follow at the Brampton Memorial Gardens, 10061 Chinguacousy Road, Brampton.
In memory of Ms. Powlett, donations to the Southern Ontario Animal Rescue (SOAR) would be greatly appreciated. She was an avid animal lover and her daughter’s dog Gemma was her “third child”. SOAR also helped save the life of her “grandpuppy” Axl.
You may also choose to make a donation to Kennedy Road Tabernacle’s Children’s Support Ministry, where Ms. Powlett was an active member and volunteer for over 20 years.

The flags on the main Keele campus, including Passey residence, and the Glendon campus, will fly at half-mast, from noon Tuesday, June 4 to 1pm on Wednesday, June 5, to commemorate Noami.
