York Vice-President Academic and Provost Rhonda Lenton has issued this message to the University community:
Janet Morrison, vice-provost students, and I are pleased to announce the appointment of Don Hunt as university registrar, following an extensive search. Don will assume this leadership role at York on Nov. 4.
Don Hunt
Don Hunt is currently the registrar at the University of Lethbridge, a position he has held since 2011. In this capacity, he is responsible for strategic enrolment management and related student services. Prior to his time in Alberta, Don was the deputy registrar at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio; before that he was the interim director of registrar operations at Cleveland State University. He earned a bachelor of science in business administration and a masters in technology management from the University of Maryland University College. Before moving to the postsecondary sector, Don held leadership roles in financial management and technology.
Don is a respected professional who brings a wealth of experience to this key leadership role at York. The University and its students will be well served by his commitment to strategic planning, evidence-based decision making, and the use of technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness, as well as his passion for students, customer service and collegial governance.
I know you will join us in giving Don a warm welcome when he arrives at York. Janet and I look forward to working with him to further progress on our enrolment planning and management mandate. In the interim, Julie Parna will continue to provide strong stewardship as our acting university registrar. We appreciate her willingness to undertake this challenging role.
We would also like to thank the members of the University Registrar Search Committee – Lucy Bellissimo, Marla Chodak, Sheila Forshaw, Gary Spraakman, Jessica Thyriar, Mario Verrilli and Mary Verrilli – for their contributions to this important process.
