In 1991, the Parliament of Canada established Dec. 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women in Canada. It presents an opportunity for members of the York community to acknowledge and reflect on the issues of violence against women as it remains a serious problem in Canada.
York is recognizing the day on Dec. 5 this year to remember all individuals who have been impacted by gender-based violence.
