Vice-President Academic & Provost Rhonda Lenton and Vice-President Finance & Administration Gary Brewer have issued the following update to the University community on the Academic & Administrative Program Review:
As the new year begins we would like to update our colleagues on activities supporting the University’s Academic & Administrative Program Review (AAPR).
Two information sessions were hosted at Keele and Glendon campuses at the end of November. The sessions provided colleagues with opportunities to ask questions on the program review, and what it means to York. A summary of questions posed at the sessions, with responses, will be posted on YU Link next week. Additional community information sessions over the lunch hour are planned for Jan. 30, Feb. 28 at Keele campus and March 21 at Glendon campus to provide opportunities to share information about the AAPR process and answer questions community members may have. Specific time and locations will be announced shortly. We encourage people to attend and participate in the sessions.
Academic and Administrative program lists are in the process of being finalized and authors/approvers being identified. The lists will be made available to the York community through YU Link by the end of the month.
The AAPR Steering Committee continues to be responsible for overall oversight of AAPR. In addition the Steering Committee has created three sub-groups: AAPR Academic sub-group; AAPR Administrative sub-group; and AAPR Task Force Nomination Review sub-group.
The Academic sub-group will be responsible for providing input on the Academic Program Information Form. To date, the form has been under development in consultation with Senate’s Academic Policy, Planning & Research Committee, incorporating community input received through the YU Link site. Members of the Academic sub-group consist of AAPR Steering members, two APPRC representatives and two Senate nominated members. The members are: Alice Pitt, vice-provost academic; Dezsö Horváth, dean, Schulich School of Business; Noel Sturgeon, dean, Faculty of Environmental Studies; Harvey Skinner, dean, Faculty of Health; Paul Axelrod, chair APPRC, Faculty of Education; Anna Agathangelou, APPRC member, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies; Leslie Sanders, Senate member, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies; and Sarah Parsons, Senate member, Faculty of Fine Arts.
The AAPR Administrative sub-group is responsible for providing input on the Administrative Program Information Form. Members of this sub-group consist of members of the AAPR Steering and administrative staff. The members of the Administrative sub-group are: Gary Brewer, vice-president finance and administration; Trudy Pound-Curtis, AVP finance and CFO; Mary Verrilli, executive officer, Faculty of Health; Richard Ooi, senior executive officer VPA&P; Iris An, senior financial analyst OIPA; Mario Verrilli, director academic resource planning VPA&P; and Maina Levin, project lead AAPR.
The community can continue to provide feedback on the Program Information Forms for the next few weeks through the YU Link site.
Feedback received will be provided to the relevant sub-group for consideration.
The AAPR Task Forces Nomination Review sub-group is responsible for reviewing nominations for the Academic and Administrative Task Forces and making recommendations to the President. The members of the sub-group are the AAPR Steering Committee members and two APPRC representatives, Paul Axelrod and Anna Agathangelou.
Relevant quantitative data to support the review are being centrally assembled and will be provided to authors with the forms. All program authors will be scheduled to receive training on completing the forms and on the use of centrally provided data. This training is expected to occur in early spring.
The nomination process for the Task Forces is planned to kick off next week.
We encourage York community members to provide their feedback on the Program Information Form through YU Link or directly to Maina Levin malevin@yorku.ca. New FAQs and updates to timelines are posted regularly for the York community on YU Link. Please visit the AAPR page regularly for new information.
