Award-winning filmmaker, poet and new media producer Ann Shin will be talking about her work and reading from her latest poetry collection Tuesday as part of the Creative Writing Reading Series.
The event will take place Feb. 25, from 10 to 11:30am, at 305 Founders College, Keele campus. Shin will sign books following the reading. Everyone is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Shin has won awards at festivals, including the San Francisco Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, International Documentary Festival of Amsterdam, SXSW and New York Festivals. Her writing has been published in anthologies and magazines in Canada and the United States, including Crossroads Cant (Broken Jaw Press), On a Bed of Rice (Anchor Books), Geography of Encounters (Rowman and Little Press), IV Lounge Reader (Insomniac Press) and The Last Thing Standing (Mansfield Press).
Her latest book of poetry, The Family China, was published in 2013 by Brick Books and has won the Anne Green Award for innovation in story and narrative form. Some of the poems from the book were produced for broadcast on the CBC Radio One program “Living Out Loud”.
