With Mother’s Day around the corner and the milestone 50th book published by Demeter Press, four books will launch with a celebration and readings.
The books are birth of the uncool, poems by Madeline Walker; On Huron’s Shore, linked stories by Marilyn Gear Pilling; Telling Truths: Storytelling Motherhood, edited by Sheena Wilson and Diana Davidson; and Mothers, Mothering and Motherhood Across Cultural Differences: A Reader, edited by O’Reilly.
The launch will take place Thursday, May 15, from 6:30 to 9:30pm, at Bar Radio, 615 College St. (west of Bathurst) in Toronto. Admission is pay-what-you-can. With donations of $20 or more, a copy of one of the titles will be included.
Demeter Press is an independent feminist press committed to publishing peer-reviewed scholarly work, fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction by and about mothers, mothering and family issues. It is the publishing arm of the Motherhood Initiative for Research and Community Involvement, founded and directed by York women’s studies Professor Andrea O’Reilly.
