York mathematics professor receives the 2015 Graham Wright Award

The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) has presented the 2015 Graham Wright Award for Distinguished Service to Professor Tom Salisbury of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York.

Salisbury has been honoured with the prestigious award for his contributions to the Canadian mathematical community and to the Society through various roles, including serving as President of the CMS from 2006 to 2008 and Vice President from 1999 to 2001. He was also editor-in-chief for Canadian Mathematical Bulletin and organized many meetings and training camps.

Salisbury has also contributed to the broader mathematics community by acting as deputy director of Fields Institute from 2003 to 2006. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and of the Fields Institute.

“It is because of people like Tom that the CMS continues to play an important role in our community,” said McMaster University mathematics Professor and CMS President Lia Bronsard.”We thank him for his influential role on the CMS and in the mathematical community overall.”

The Graham Wright Award for Distinguished Service was presented at the 2015 CMS Winter Meeting in Montreal, Dec. 4 to 7.
