Date: Friday Oct. 11, 2002
Time: 10am
Location: Hanlon’s Point Beach, Toronto Islands
The memorial service will be led by Rabbi Sharon Sobel, with a brief eulogy by William King, friend of Greg and Mark. Readings of poetry or words from others are welcome, but should be brief in nature. This ceremony will take place on the beach at Hanlon’s Point, near the water.
The Toronto Islands Ferry Dock is located at the foot of Bay Street (at Queens Quay) immediately behind the Harbour Castle Westin Hotel. It is recommended that we take the 9am Hanlon’s Point ferry. (The ferry leaves every 30 minutes on the ½ hour and hour and returns from Hanlon’s at 15 minutes after and 15 minutes before each hour.) The cost is $5 per person for the round trip.
TTC access is via subway to Union Station and the Harbourfront LRT to the Queens Quay/Ferry Docks stop (the first stop after leaving Union Station). There are parking lots in the area within a few blocks.
The walk from the ferry dock on the Island to Hanlon’s Point is approximately one kilometre and takes 20 minutes. It is suggested that everyone wear suitable footwear and proper clothing for the ferry ride and beach. There is no vehicular transportation on the Island. Bicycles are easily accommodated on the ferry and on the Islands.
