Novelist Anosh Irani will appear as the second guest of the 2017-18 Canadian Writers in Person Lecture series, presented by York University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS).

Irani will discuss his novel The Parcel on Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 7 to 10pm in 206 Accolade West. The event is free and open to the public.
The Parcel is published by Knopf and was a finalist for the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and the Governor General’s Literary Award. It is a powerful story about a transgender sex worker in the red-light district of Bombay who is given an unexpected task.
Irani has previously published three critically acclaimed novels: The Cripple and His Talismans, a national bestseller; The Song of Kahunsha, an international bestseller, shortlisted for Canada Reads and the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize; and Dahanu Road, nominated for the Man Asian Literary Prize.
His play Bombay Black won the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play, and his anthology The Bombay Plays: The Matka King & Bombay Black was shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award. His work has been translated into eleven languages.
