The York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR) invites applications from York University faculty and graduate students for the inaugural Canada-China Initiatives Fund call for proposals.
Founded in 2019, the Canada-China Initiatives Fund (CCIF) was created to support scholarly exchanges and research on modern (i.e. post 1911) and contemporary China (including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau) and their global reach or Canada-China linkages, or the experiences of the Chinese-Canadian community.
It was created with the generous support of the Schulich Executive Education Centre’s Asian Business & Management Program (SEEC-ABMP) at York University. Learn more about the program at seec.online.abmp.
Proposals for activities with budgets between $5,000 and $25,000 are welcome. The number of funded projects will depend on submissions, but generally at least two projects will be funded annually. Applicants are expected to show cash or in-kind support from other sources for their applications to be considered.
The activities supported by the CCIF at YCAR will vary from year to year, but they will be prioritized in the following ranked order:
- workshops or conferences at York (or in which York plays an institutional partnering role) that bring together researchers from York and elsewhere that are focused on themes within the scope noted above;
- research projects by York faculty on issues within the stated scope;
- visiting scholars to York whose work is focused on the stated scope and who will work with a York faculty member, preferably on collaborative research; and
- graduate student field research in China or Canada (both domestic and international students registered at York will be eligible).
The deadline for applications for the 2019–20 academic year is Monday, July 22.
