Schulich School of Business launches global case competition

York University’s Schulich School of Business has announced the launch of its own international case competition, the Schulich Global Case Competition (SGCC). The inaugural event will run from March 14 to 27.

“Schulich has developed a world-class case competition reputation over the last 10 years, so it was a natural next step for the school to launch its own flagship competition,” says Schulich Dean Detlev Zwick. Schulich case competition teams have placed Top 10 in many global competitions, including the Harvard Global Case Competition, the HEC Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Competition, and first place at the Yale Consulting Club Competition in 2021.

SGCC invites students from top business schools across the world to pitch strategic solutions to the real challenges faced by small- and medium-sized businesses. The competition’s 2022 theme of “Technology Innovators in a Global Economy” will focus on the challenges faced by a high-growth Canadian technology company in a rapidly evolving competitive environment. This consulting-focused competition will enable students to present their recommendations and receive feedback from an industry panel of judges, comprised of executives with business experience from various global markets.

SGCC is a collaboration between the Schulich School of Business Graduate Business Council and Schulich’s Centre for Global Enterprise (CGE).

“We are pleased to support this competition, which complements our mission to equip Canadian small and medium scale businesses to reach their full potential in a global market,” says Douglas Kennedy, RBC managing director of the CGE.

This year’s competition will feature PatSnap as the technology partner. PatSnap engages AI-powered and machine learning technology to parse through billions of data points, revolutionizing the innovation process by making it faster and more efficient.
