Moving Forward webinar series kicks off third season with focus on international students

The Moving Forward webinar series, launched by the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS), is back for a third season beginning Sept. 29.

In 2020, the LA&PS Dean’s Office launched the series to create an opportunity for engagement within the LA&PS community. This virtual series of lunchtime talks allows alumni, students, donors, retirees, faculty and staff to connect and explore how people and organizations are navigating the future with strength, determination and skills needed to overcome unprecedented barriers and create a positive change.

This season’s first webinar is titled “Making the Most of Your International Student Experience.” Join the event virtually on Sept.29 from noon to 1 p.m. to engage with successful alumni who were international students when they attended York. Panelists will discuss the challenges of adjusting to life in Canada, and strategies that will help students get connected and feel part of the York community.

Panelists include Anna Boateng, vice president, client services at BMO Capital Markets, Kamika McLean, general counsel and corporate secretary at KSS Holdco, and Hasnain Versi, president and CEO at ISM – a Kyndryl Company.

This event will include a time for audience Q-and-A. All are welcome to attend and participate. The panel will be hosted by Lily Cho, associate dean, global & community engagement.

The Moving Forward series invites students, alumni, and the whole York community to hear meaningful conversations with successful York alumni about how people, organizations and communities can “move forward” in uncertain times.
