Academic Integrity Month is a pan-University event that will take place throughout October. The event is organized by the Office of the Vice-Provost Academic and brings students, faculty and staff together for a series of discussions that focus on academic integrity facilitated through seminars and panel sessions.

Eaton is an associate professor at the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary and has written and presented extensively on academic integrity. She is regularly invited as a media guest to talk about academic misconduct. She is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal for Educational Integrity. Her books include Plagiarism in Higher Education: Tackling Tough Topics in Academic Integrity (ABC-CLIO, 2021), Academic Integrity in Canada: An Enduring and Essential Challenge, Eaton & Christensen Hughes, eds. (Springer 2022) and the forthcoming Contract Cheating in Higher Education: Global Perspectives on Theory, Practice, and Policy, Eaton, Curtis, Stoesz, Clare, Rundle, & Seeland, eds.
Her keynote presentation is titled, “Academic Integrity: A Foundation for Excellence.” In her remarks, Eaton will present an evidence-informed keynote covering the technological, social and cultural realities that demand new approaches to academic integrity. She will look at how and why academic misconduct has proliferated during COVID-19 and what steps can be taken to ensure the integrity in courses, programs, and the credentials awarded as we emerge from the pandemic. This presentation will also consider equity, diversity and inclusion in conversations about academic integrity and student success.
Eaton’s keynote marks a month of activities for Academic Integrity Month that are focused on promoting academic integrity across York University and fostering student success.
