Shannon Litzenberger, a second-year student in the MA Program in Dance, has been appointed membership and project coordinator of the Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA). The CDA is a relatively new national arts service organization dedicated to serving the professional dance community in Canada.

Litzenberger will be responsible for helping to solidify the infrastructure of the CDA. This in turn, will allow the organization to take a greater leadership role in the dance community, as well as facilitate goals and projects initiated by the CDA National Council.
In announcing the appointment, CDA President Dick Stoker said, “I am delighted to welcome Shannon Litzenberger to our organization. Her appointment marks the start of a new chapter in the life of the CDA.”
Litzenberger is an active member of the dance community as an independent dancer, choreographer, teacher, producer and administrator. She is also an adjudicator with Centre Stage Productions and has assumed a leadership role as artistic director of her company, Integrated Dance Artists Collective. She serves on the MOVE conference steering committee and the board of directors for Stage/D Productions. Previously, she was a staff member of Dance Umbrella of Ontario.
“I am thrilled to be a part of an organization with the potential to have a very significant and positive impact on the national dance community,” said Litzenberger. “It’s a great opportunity to hear from dance professionals living and working in Canada, and I look forward to learning more about the diversity of dance activity that takes place throughout the country.”
The CDA aims to meet the needs of a growing and increasingly diversified professional dance milieu in Canada through professional development, advocacy, education, research and communication and information exchange.
