York/Sheridan design students who earlier this year took top honours at the annual Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) of Ontario competition collected their prizes from the sponsors at a special awards ceremony on Sept. 20 at Entro Communications in downtown Toronto.

This year, 115 entrants from 14 schools province-wide competed for the awards. The RGD awarded a total of 12 scholarships to 10 students with an additional six honourable mentions being highlighted at the ceremony. York/Sheridan design student Shahin Edalati walked away with two awards – the Adobe InDesign and RGD Ontario awards.
First place awards went to York/Sheridan design students Lily Cheung who earned the Design in Overdrive Award, Graham Huber who captured the Philip Sung Design Award and Judith Lacerte who won the Koskie Minsky Award.
Honourable mentions went to York/Sheridan design students Anna Catling, Otto Yeung (not pictured above), Janice Fung and Rebecca Luffman. All of the York/Sheridan design students who received the awards graduated with their BDes in June 2004. The awards were announced as the students were completing their final year of the program.
RGD has been recognizing the innovation and hard work of tomorrow’s designers since 1998. Since the inception of the awards, York/Sheridan design students have received 36 of the 56 awards given.
